About the Role

 

Due to the retirement of the existing post holder, we currently have an exciting vacancy to join Trafford’s Exchequer Services Management Team to provide clear, visible and motivational leadership in order to maintain high performance revenues collection rates as well as ensure systems support is available and continually improved across the service.  As Revenues, Systems and Performance Manager, you will be responsible for maximising the collection rates of Council Tax, Adult Social Care charges, Housing Benefit Overpayments and Corporate Debts as well as the effective management, development, deployment and continuous improvement of large software systems such as Civica and ContrOCC.  You will act as Deputy to the Head of Exchequer Services and will therefore need to be able to respond to corporate, director and Councillor queries across all service functions.

About you

 

You will have significant experience working in a senior revenues position, with at least 4 years’ experience of recovering debt through the court system and ideally hold a degree and/or a professional qualification e.g. IRRV.  With strong leadership skills, you will have experience of leading and motivating a team to high performance and be able to demonstrate the successful implementation of service improvements which directly resulted in a financial saving and/or an increase in income.  You will have experience of managing budgets and be able to undertake key financial accounting exercises (including the calculation of the budgeted council tax base, empty homes premium and quarterly government returns).

 

You will act as the expert of revenues management, with a detailed knowledge of revenues legislation, including relevant case law.  With strong communication skills, you will have the ability to review system procedures and working practices and recommend and implement improvements, promoting a culture that questions the status quo and encourages continued improved, especially in the shift to digital channels and automated back office systems.

Additional Information

 

Flexibility will be required to work outside core hours as system upgrades and annual billing takes place outside normal working hours, including on occasion at the weekend

A basic DBS will be required

You will have flexibility in terms of hybrid working at home and in the office but place of work is Sale Waterside and training requirements may require you to be in the office at certain times during the year
