About the Role

Following recent changes in the Council’s Policies on empty property and the increase in the number of larger developments in the Borough, we are looking to recruit an additional Revenues Caseworker onto the Council Tax Team. The post will specifically have responsibility for ensuring the Council’s policy on charging the empty home premium is successful in reducing the number of empty properties, increasing income and also maintaining accurate records on new developments to ensure they are assessed for Council Tax promptly. A revenues background with a proven track record of enforcing debt is therefore essential, ideally specialising in Council Tax.

The Caseworker role has been specifically introduced to be responsible for liaising with owners and developers at an early stage to ensure the Council’s tax base is maximised by prompt assessment of new property and correct application of the empty property premium. This will include close monitoring of property with significant time spent around the Borough. The post holder will also be expected to prepare and issue completion notices and fully prepare cases for Tribunal.
