Salary range –  Band 7 (SCP26, £34,834- SCP29, £37,336)  

  

Working Pattern –  Full Time

 

Working hours –  36 hours 15 mins per week Monday – Friday (flexible working available 7am-9pm)

 

Contract type – Fixed Term12 months

About the Role

 

Trafford’s Trading Standards Team have an exciting new vacancy for an Enforcement Safety Officer (Product Safety & Public Health).

 

We are looking to recruit an experienced, professional and enthusiastic individual to join the Trading Standards Team:

  •  in identifying any Trafford businesses that are non-compliant with product safety and tobacco products legislation.

 

Working to reduce health inequalities in the Trafford borough by

  • identifying how the service can engage with Trafford businesses who have been impacted by the changes in consumer product safety requirements, with the view to improving compliance by Trafford businesses and safeguarding consumers from unsafe goods being placed on the market, following the UK’s exit from the European Union
  • delivering on public health enforcement objectives, including illicit tobacco/e-cigarette/vape devices and access to them by children

About you

 

You will have:

  • Diploma in Consumer Affairs/DCATS or equivalent recognised qualification and/or experience resulting in equivalent level of skill knowledge and expertise.
  • Knowledge and experience in specific areas of Consumer Safety and Public Health and have worked within a Trading Standards or similar environment.
  • The ability to deliver effective project-based work, prioritise and manage a busy workload and deliver to tight deadlines with a passion and pride in your work.
  •  Experience of working independently and as part of a team within a Trading Standards Service and being able to take a lead role when required.
  •  The ability to successfully establish and manage professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Additional Information

 

You will have flexibility in terms of hybrid working at home and in the office.

 

The role requires you to hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own vehicle for work use, willing to travel and work from different sites across the borough of Trafford.
