Location - Trafford Town Hall, Talbot Road, Stretford, Manchester      M32 0TH (Hybrid Working)

 

Salary range –   £26,421 - £28,770 (Band 4) 

 

Working Pattern –  Full Time

 

Working hours –  36.25 per week

About the Role

 

You will be based in the Democratic Team, which is committed to supporting the delivery of its core services, in particular Information Governance Services.

 

The main duties of the post will be to represent the Democratic Team in the promotion of collaborative working across the Council and the maintenance of customer focus, to achieve the highest quality results in all aspects of the work of the Legal and Governance Services.

 

You will provide support, assistance and representation to the wider Legal and Governance Team as and when required to do so. Developing effective communication and collaborative working internally within the Council and with external colleagues and partners.

 

Ideally, you will come from a public sector background and will have experience of elections and experience within this area of law to take a proactive approach to your role and responsibilities, learning and development.

 

You will possess a “can do” approach. Well organised and adaptable, you will be innovative, creative and have an aptitude for strategic and critical thinking. You will be able to communicate and explain complex issues to stakeholders in an easily digestible form and to influence decision making with an ability to develop effective working relationships with all levels of management. With an ability to learn and share learning with others, you may from time to time be asked to take on challenges outside your field of expertise.

 

You will join a strong team that deals with issues in a pragmatic manner, within a supportive environment and be required to work 36 hours 15 minutes per week, between Monday and Friday. During election periods, the successful candidate would be required to work additional hours which may fall outside of the usual working days and times. The proposed working hours and pattern will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate. The Council also promotes flexible working initiatives for staff, to balance work and life commitments.

 

You will have excellent oral and written communication skills and be IT literate. You will also have evidence of research skills, the ability to work to tight deadlines and an aptitude towards advocacy and negotiation.
