The SEN Advisory Service (SENAS) provides high quality assessment, advice and support to schools and early years settings relating to the special educational needs and disabilities of children and young people across the borough of Trafford. We have a strong commitment to multi-agency working, inclusive education, high standards of attainment, and quality of life experiences for all children and young people.
We currently have an exciting vacancy within our team to give support to families and education settings in order to raise achievement, promote inclusion and improve access to learning opportunities for children and young people with a physical difficulty and /or medical needs 0-25years.
About you
We are seeking to appoint a committed and highly motivated teacher to join our experienced and specialist team supporting Children and Young People. This role is within the Trafford SEN Advisory Service as a Consultant Physical & Medical and this post will be to work alongside the other team members who are from an education background and hold a wide variety of specialist SEN and Disability-related qualifications, alongside their in-depth knowledge and expertise.

About the Role
The role will provide support to families and education settings in order to raise achievement, promote inclusion and improve access to learning opportunities for Children and Young People with a physical difficulty and /or medical need across all age ranges, within the Borough of Trafford.
We are looking to recruit a Teacher who has had experience of supporting or teaching Children and Young People with Physical and /or medical needs.
You will bring a sound knowledge of SEND and a professional approach to the roll and work effectively as part of the team. You will require a working knowledge across all phases of education including EYFS.
You will take responsibility for record keeping on the council systems.
You will be required to:-
- Undertake and deliver relevant training specific to SEND/Inclusion and other council priorities
- Advise and support SENCOs in the co-production of individual support strategies/ interventions and the monitoring of these with regard to Trafford Graduated Approach Guidance for schools and Early Years Settings.
- Keep up to date with the relevant regulations, policy and legislation relating to special educational needs, disability and equality.
- Work with parents of children with SEND to co-produce plans within settings, offer advice and signpost to other services
- Work collaboratively with other education, health and care service colleagues in the best interests of the child.
- Gather records of progress of children/pupil(s) following set guidelines and advise on and contribute to individual plans in educational settings.
- Encourage key workers, teachers/ SENCOs to develop a high level of expectation of children with SEND both in and out of educational settings.
- Supporting the assessment and the use of assistive technology through training delivery and interventions as required to support children who have communication and/or recording difficulties.
- Be able to work independently and use your initiative whilst raising issues and seeking advice from other managers across education, health and social care.
- Manage and support staff alongside the service manager through caseload supervision and performance management.
