Trafford’s Licensing Team is part of a larger group of Regulatory Services, all co-located at Trafford Town Hall.
We currently have an exciting vacancy within our team to enable us to continue to build on our success and also bring new experience, knowledge and ideas into the team. We currently have one role available on a fixed term basis for 12 months. The team covers a wide range of licensing functions, the main ones being taxis, alcohol licensing and gambling premises.

About the Role
Trafford’s Licensing Team is part of a larger group of Regulatory Services, all co-located at Trafford Town Hall. The team covers a wide range of licensing functions, the main ones being taxis, alcohol licensing and gambling premises. The team is made up of positive individuals who contribute to a friendly and helpful environment. The licensing office is fast paced and team work is a crucial element to our organisational culture.
We are looking for a Licensing Assistant who can add their own personality and dynamic work rate to this team fit. The selected candidate will be able to evidence strong administration skills and the ability to work with accuracy, to tight deadlines, in a customer focused environment.
The role is to support Licensing Officers’ in their administrative duties. Over the 12 month period, we expect you to assist with invigilating a high number of Taxi Driver Knowledge Tests either at Trafford Town Hall or at UA92. The role will also include the checking of documents and processing of applications for Private Hire and Hackney Carriage vehicle and driver licences. This will be a fast paced role assisting Trafford Council’s Licensing Officers’ and would suit a new candidate with energy and enthusiasm to support an important public safety regime in Regulatory Services.
Trafford Council’s Licensing Team was recognised by Edge Hill University with a Student Employer of the Year Award (2020) for their flexibility, encouragement and support throughout courses.
Training and support will be given to enable a talented and enthusiastic candidate to carry out the functions expected of an entry level Licensing Assistant role.

Flexibility will be required to work outside core flexi-time hours as (pre-COVID-19) the office is open for appointments from 10:00AM until 4:30PM.
Current COVID-19 measures include an element of remote working where a works laptop and mobile phone is provided. However, the main priority of this role is the invigilation of Taxi Knowledge Tests which cannot be administered remotely due to exam hall type conditions; the secondary priority is the production of licence plates/badges which also requires an office presence.
